Xray security scanners are used to scan luggage, baggage or parcels, they smartly classify the materials scanned based on their composition, to identify the type of item being scanned (metal, organic, inorganic, mixed, etc) in order to detect suspicious items. Thanks to this method, the xray security operator can see on the screen both the shape and the material of the content of the scanned items.

Often used in airports, xray luggage scanners are also referred to as airport scanners, although frequently used in other locations. Those types of security scanners can even be found in public facilities such as hotels and other common locations.
